# Placardset

> Practise the Emergency Response Guidebook lookup: read a placard, an orange panel or a shipping paper, find the guide, the Table 1 distance and the first actions.

Placardset is a training aid; in a real incident follow the current printed guidebook and your employer's plan. Placardset is not affiliated with, endorsed by or produced by any government, transport agency, regulator, fire service or training body.

## How it works

Each scenario shows a placard, a placard with an orange panel, or a shipping paper line (all drawn by Placardset), with a short situation: spill size, day or night, no fire. The trainee answers four steps, each graded with the miss named and the source page cited: the class or division; the guide number (from the yellow index when an ID number is known, from the placard table otherwise); the distance (Table 1 isolation and protective action distances when the index entry is highlighted green, otherwise the guide's immediate precautionary isolation distance); and the first actions the guide supports. The daily drill has 5 scenarios per local date. The timed run shows 10 ID numbers on a clock.

## Data

- Edition: 2024 Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG2024), entered 2026-09-27 from the public English PDF (392 pages).
- Yellow index: 2771 rows, 1983 ID numbers, 522 highlighted, printed pages 29 to 86; cross-checked row for row against the blue index.
- Guides: 62 orange guides with each immediate precautionary isolation distance.
- Table 1: the 41 rows on printed pages 290 and 291, checked against the book's text layer.
- Drill set: 68 materials with ID numbers and 8 placard only scenarios; classes from the U.S. Hazardous Materials Table.
- Data entered from the 2024 Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG2024), produced by the U.S. Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, Transport Canada and Mexico's Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation. Hazard classes from the U.S. Hazardous Materials Table, 49 CFR 172.101.
